I'd like to announce the winner of the splash screen poll. We had a total of 789 votes, which is a quite good count! The winner is
Jacek Adamkiewicz: Proposal 3
with a total of 83 votes. You see that this result means that voting was quite tight and all proposals have seen nearly equal acceptance throughout the community.
I'd like to take the opportunity and thank all contributors for their great efforts! I hope that contributors whose proposal have not been chosen will support us in designing in the future nontheless!

There's something terrible with the tasteless in the FOSS world. This is another example. There were some beautiful images in the poll, clean and simple (and without those text transparencies). The colored dots are... well, epic.
@guigondi
I can't agree more... too much "bling" to be a splash screen for an office suite.. Well I think it doesn't matter anyway because we can easily replace it.
@guigondi: you're so right, I laughed very much about the circles, too.
("epic", hihihi, that's it!)
Seriously, it's an office suite used by millions all over the world, it can't be possible that it will have this amateurish kind of splash screen?
Awful text transparencies crossed by the progress bar (!), nonsense colored dots, too much elements - seems like a joke!

And one more remark: about 800 votes? There are BILLIONS of OOo users, and you get only 800 votes for the winner?
Seems the guys at the Marketing blog don't really WANT to get more opinions that the one of their small group... could have advertised more for this contest!
Every day makes me more sad about the future of OSS.
