German penal institutions looking into OpenOffice.org

It looks like that OpenOffice.org is also being used in areas where many of us don't expect it, or wouldn't research for. I have reports that some German penal institutions are looking into OpenOffice.org for their daily office work. Instead of buying new machines and software from one of our competitors, they curently plan on buying better hardware from the saved license costs, and go with OpenOffice.org. First tests were very successful, not only for internal use, but also for document exchange with external entities. As soon as I have more details I can publish, you'll read them here.

It is encouraging to hear that the correction system's personnel will have an opportunity to upgrade their user experience.

The inmates, however, should be kept on Microsoft; they are being punished, after all.
